Many Irish football fans coming to Poland for Euro 2012 are planning to get their teeth fixed when over here in the summer.

According to the Irish Independent, dentists in Poland have already noted a rise in enquiries from Irish fans and are expecting a boom in business when thousands arrive in June.

The paper notes that the majority of his customers are so far from Scandinavia, with the Irish customer base less than 5%, but that this is expected this to rise.

The medical tourism industry is also being helped by a Polish government initiative to subsidise advertising aimed at attracting such customers to Poland instead of nearby Hungary.

Those who undergo treatment can also claim 20 percent of the cost of their treatment back from the Irish Government by lodging a Med 1 form.

The cost of dental treatment is far lower in Poland and the quality in many cases better.

Many people will also reportedly travel to Poland for breast augmentation, face lifts and tummy tucks.

Ireland starts its campaign against Croatia in Poznan on 10 June, then faces Spain in Gdansk on 14 June before playing Italy on 18 June again in Poznan.(jh)
