A far-right association based in the Polish highlands is promoting a summer camp with a guest of honour in the shape of Niko Puhakka, a Finnish martial arts professional who is noted for sporting neo-Nazi tattoos.
Polish anti-fascist association Nidgy Wiecej (Never Again) has described the camp as “promoting fascism, which is forbidden in Poland.”
As visitors to the nationalist group’s website can read, the National Radical Camp of Podhale (ONRP) “invites all those who are enthusiastic to the sports-based Mad Fight Summer Camp 2011” which will be held from 7-14 August in the village of Bialy Dunajec, near the mountain resort of Zakopane.
The portal describes Puhakka as “sympathetic to nationalist movements” and enthuses that through combat training, “each participant in the camp will make immense progress in their skills.”
ONRP salutes pre-war conservative politician Roman Dmowski – one of Poland’s most prominent anti-Semites – as an inspiration. Meanwhile, the portal chronicles recent events which members have participated in, such as an ant-gay march in Krakow. (nh/jb)
