At a special ceremony in Warsaw, Andrzej Duda was also expected to sign into effect new regulations expanding entitlements for veterans, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.
Duda, who is the commander-in-chief of Poland’s armed forces, was expected to be accompanied during the signing ceremony by Defence Minister Mariusz Błaszczak.
Under the new regulations, military men in Poland will receive higher paychecks beginning next year, according to the IAR news agency.
Meanwhile, under the new rules governing veterans, more servicemen will be able to apply for veteran status.
At the moment, there are 19,500 veterans in Poland, while nearly 800 former soldiers who have served in missions abroad have combat-injured veteran status, according to IAR.
