Border guards say the animal came to Poland from Lithuania through Belarus, Super Express reported.
Previously, a brown bear was last sighted in the area 99 years ago, according to a spokesman for Poland’s State Forests authority, the paper said.
Mating season is drawing to an end and the bear is probably looking for a female, according to forest rangers who hope the animal will make Poland its new home, the paper reported. (vb/pk)
