The annual March for Life and Family was held on Sunday in more than 60 locations nationwide under the motto "Poland is strong thanks to family."
This year’s marches additionally referred to the 100th anniversary of national independence and the 40th anniversary of the election of Polish Cardinal Karol Wojtyla as Pope John Paul II.
Participants demonstrated their support for traditional family values and advocated for an outright ban on abortion, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.
Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister Beata Szydło tweeted: "We Poles have nothing dearer than our families."
She noted that strong family values helped the nation survive more than a century of foreign enslavement.
Poland is this year celebrating the centenary of reemerging as an independent state.
The country regained independence on November 11, 1918 after 123 years of foreign rule.
More than 10,000 opponents of abortion took part in an annual Sanctity of Life march in the Polish capital in mid-April.
