Jarosław Kaczyński, head of the ruling conservative Law and Justice (PiS) party, and Entrepreneurship and Technology Minister Jadwiga Emilewicz were both singled out for praise as outstanding politicians by the Wprost weekly, which presented its annual Kisiel Awards on Tuesday.
The magazine praised Kaczyński for his "consistency and steadfastness," while lauding Emilewicz for her "diligence and entrepreneurial spirit in politics."
Emilewicz picked up the award herself during a ceremony in Warsaw, while Kaczyński sent in a letter in which he said the award was "more confirmation” that his party “has accurately diagnosed the situation in the country and taken the right path."
The award also proves that the country’s conservative government led by PiS “is doing what it should be doing and what the Polish people expect it to be doing," Kaczyński said in the letter.
The Kisiel Award, named after the late writer and journalist Stefan Kisielewski, has been presented since 1990 in three categories: politician, current-affairs commentator and entrepreneur.
The Law and Justice party swept to power in a landslide election win in late 2015.
