Frost warnings have been issued to most parts of the country, with the mercury-levels to fall the most in the northeast where 15 centimetres of snow is expected. Traffic delays should be expected and the freezing weather could lead to property damage or injury.

The southwest and northwest parts of Poland are warning-free.

Poland's authorities urge people to be aware of others who are most at risk of hypothermia during the cold snap, including the homeless and elderly.

The winter death toll stands at 48. (vb)
