“Intuition tells me that maybe a shallow reconstruction of the government [is possible]," Karczewski told the Radio Zet station on Monday.

He added that this will likely not happen before the Easter holidays. Easter Sunday this year falls on 16 April.

Karczewski said that he would “not want to speculate” about any such changes in the makeup of the government.

He declined to “draw conclusions”, adding that such conclusions would need to be “drawn by the Prime Minister”.

He said that the three recent polls which indicated that opposition parties have been catching up to the governing Law and Justice (PiS) party have been “analysed very deeply” by PiS.

Asked by Radio Zet what needs changing, he said: “We think about this all the time, not only when poll results are weaker, but also when the polls are good”.

Last week, Polish Prime Minister Beata Szydło said that that there are ministers within the government who will be required to improve their work.

She added that for the government, a focus on reforms is paramount.

“I am constantly in contact with my ministers, there are ministers who will have to improve their work, because I think it is necessary now, but the most important thing is to concentrate on the reforms which are ahead of us,” Szydło told Polish Radio on Friday.
