The search for a Polish man who fell off a ferry that had been sailing from the Swedish port of Ystad to Świnoujście, north west Poland, was suspended in the early hours of Friday morning.

The man fell overboard from Unity Line ferry Skania at about 6:00 pm on Thursday, about 50 km from the Polish port.
The incident occurred in German waters, and German services coordinated the rescue attempt, aided by three Polish vessels, as well as Swedish boats, and two helicopters.
Temperatures are typically low in the Baltic at this time of year, and hopes of finding the man alive are low.
The precise circumstances of the incident are unclear.
“The extent of our knowledge about the passenger who fell overboard is that he was wearing a suit jacket,” said spokeswoman for Poland's Search and Rescue service Miroslaw Więckowska in an interview with the TVN24 news channel. (nh/rk)
