Warsaw officials say some 22 million passengers have used the central stretch of the city’s second underground line between March, when it was opened, and the end of November.

The line has proved popular despite initial fears of low passenger traffic along the route, which runs between Warsaw city center and the right-bank district of Praga, on the other side of the Vistula river.
November proved to be the peak month in terms of traffic figures, which stood at 2.8 mln passengers, an outcome linked to the onset of the academic year, as one of the stations on the new line is located next to Warsaw University.
The highest number of travellers, 600,000, was recorded at the Dworzec Wileński end station, followed by the Świętokrzyska transit station, which is connected to the first metro line. (aba/pk)
