Paris attacks radicalise Poles' stand on refugees

Up to 75 percent of Poles oppose the relocation of asylum seekers originating from North Africa and the Middle East to Poland, shows a survey run by pollster Ariadna.

Opposition to taking in refugees has risen by ten percentage points virtually overnight, after a series of terrorist attacks hit Paris last Friday, claiming the lives of over 120 people. A previous probe on the issue had been taken just three days earlier.
Two-thirds of those questioned believe ruling Law and Justice should lower the number of fledglings Poland pledged to take in under the former Civic Platform government in September.
No more than 17 percent rather believe Poland should follow through with the commitment made by ex-prime minister Ewa Kopacz, who agreed to secure shelter for 7,000 people.
Nearly 80 percent of the respondents believe that taking in refugees would expose Poles to a significantly higher risk of terrorist attacks.
The survey was run on a sample of 1,026 adults on 13-17 November. (aba)
