Cyberspace security in Poland is not properly protected, according to a report by the Supreme Chamber of Control (NIK).
No action has yet been taken to monitor and counteract online threats, NIK said.
“The state is paralysed by the lack of a single decision-making centre to coordinate the activities of other public institutions and passively waits for a solution from the European Union,” NIK spokesman Paul Biedziak said.
The NIK report noted that an important factor was disputes and overlaps between agencies and institutions related to IT security within the state itself.
The audit found that the state administration is not aware of the scale and most types of incidents in cyberspace, and that the telecommunications law was established to collect and record such information had proved to be ineffective. (jh)
