PM's party extends lead in latest poll

Prime Minster Kopacz's centre-right Civic Platform party would garner 46 percent of the vote if a general election were held in march, a new poll has indicated.

The poll, which was conducted by Poland's Centre for Public Opinion Research (CBOS), found that the conservative coalition led by Law and Justice would win 27 percent of the vote.
Civic Platform has increased its vote share by 8 percent compared with last month, while the conservative coalition has dropped by 1 percent.
Meanwhile, the Democratic Left Alliance (SLD), currently in third place in the polls, has seen a 2 percent drop in support to 6 percent.
Civic Platform's junior coalition partner the Polish Peasants' Party (PSL), in fourth position, would garner 5 percent, falling some 6 percent since February.
The new party of maverick right-wing MEP Janusz Korwin-Mikke would fail to win the 5 percent necessary to enter parliament. His Coalition for the Renewal of the Republic - Freedom and Hope, would manage 4 percent
Although no fixed date has been made as of yet, the next general election can be held no later than 30 October 2015. (nh)
