Boar-depopulation bill to be introduced

Agriculture Minister Marek Sawicki has outlined his programme for wild-boar depopulation in the Podlaskie region.

The region has registered the third case of the African Swine Flu (ASF) virus in pigs. As many as 31 wild boas have already been affected.
Minister Sawicki met with local farmers in and around the city of Białystok to discuss the issue.
Sawicki told the farmers that if they want, they may submit an application for the killing of wild boars in the region.
The Minister noted, however, that farmers need to be aware that, for example, a similar depopulation carried out in Belarus did not solve the ASF problem is that country. (rg)
