Poles wrote nearly 240,000 letters in this year’s Amnesty International (AI) “Write for Rights” marathon over the weekend, the Polish branch of the human rights organisation reported.

The campaign was started by Polish activists in 2001.
“This year we are writing, among others, for Turkey’s Amnesty International director who, as it happens, has been imprisoned there for criticising the government,” AI's Michał Groblewski said.
