European health scare over contaminated poultry and eggs

Fipronil is an insecticide used to treat fleas in household pets, and also in crop protection but because it can be dangerous to humans, Brussels has banned it from animal farming. After unacceptable levels of the substance were found in eggs from the Netherlands, as well as in poultry meat, it proved that some consignments of these had also been imported to Poland. And, since Poland is also one of the biggest producers of eggs in Europe, Polish sanitary authorities are now carrying out inspections of farms - just in case. Elżbieta Krajewska reports.
