The European Economic Congress in the Silesian hub of Katowice recently hosted a conference on bilateral trade between Poland and India. Poland’s new ‘Go India’ programme is set to boost bilateral economic ties between the countries. Trade turnover currently amounts to USD 2.2 billion annually between India and Poland, yet there is still real scope to increase bilateral business potential. I spoke to Vijay Mehta from the PHD Chamber of Commerce in New Delhi to speak about the possibilities of trade between the two countries.
Also in the programme, a Euranet Plus debate in Brussels recently asked whether EU members should have their final say on GMO imports. Or should the EU have a common position on this subject? According to a proposal of the European Commission, EU countries could decide on their own whether they want to import Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) products or not. At the same time the decision making process for the authorization of GMOs should be revised.
