As Elżbieta Krajewska reports, 33 years later, he paddled his way across a record-breaking long route from Europe to America. The first man to have paddled across the widest part of the Atlantic Ocean, Aleksander Doba (currently 69) is now the first Pole to be nominated to National Geographic magazine's Adventurer of the Year title.
