The 70th birthday gala of one of Poland's most acclaimed conductors
The birthday concert at the National Philharmonic in Warsaw included Brahms’s Schicksalslied’, Richard Strauss’s Alpine Symphony and a masterpiece of Polish sacred music - Karol Szymanowski’s Stabat Mater.
Seven times Grammy nominee, he received the award in 2013 - in the Best Classical Compendium category for an album of music by Krzysztof Penderecki recorded with the Polish National Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra.
He is one of the world’s few artists to have sold his records in nearly five million copies. Presented by Elżbieta Krajewska.
