The Polish Parliament declared 2013 the Year of Witold Lutoslawski, the famous Polish composer whose birth centenary will be marked on 25 January
Witold Lutosławski was born on the evening of January 25th, 1913 near the Warsaw Philharmonic.
Witold Lutosławski emerged as one of the most prominent 20th-century composers.
His honours included the Koussevitzky, Herder, Ravel, Sibelius, Grawemeyer and UNESCO Awards, as well as the Gold Medal of the Royal Philharmonic Society in London, the Polar Music Prize and the Kyoto Prize. He also received the Order of the White Eagle, the highest Polish state distinction. He died in 1994.
