It’s been a week since the Olympic Games started in London and the week has so far seen mediocre performance of Polish athletes despite general expectations that that they should do no worse than four years ago in Beijing when they grabbed 10 medals

Number 2 seed Agnieszka Radwanska was knocked out of the Olympic tennis tournament in the first round while another Polish medal hope, swimmer Otylia Jedrzejczak failed to qualify for the final of the the 200m butterfly. The gold medalist in the Athens 2004 Olympics finished with the slowest time of all 16 competitors in the semis. The weekend's forecast looks much brighter with shot putter Tomasz Majewski defending his Olympic title.
