The Polish Athletic Association wants the southern city of Chorzów to be the venue for the championships, which take place every two years, according to the PAP news agency.
Chorzów’s rivals as potential host cities are Minsk in Belarus, Tampere in Finland and Gothenburg in Sweden, PAP reported.
The final decision on who will host the 2024 event will be taken in April 2020, according to PAP.
The 2020 European Athletics Championships will be held in Paris.
The host of the 2022 competition has not yet been announced.
The Polish national track-and-field team won a total of 12 medals, seven gold, four silver and one bronze, at this year’s European Athletics Championships in Berlin, finishing second behind Britain in the overall medals table.
Poland finished top of the league in terms of medals at the European Athletics Championships in Amsterdam in 2016, with six golds, five silvers and one bronze.
