Pole wins gold at track cycling world championships

Poland's Szymon Sajnok has won the men's omnium at the Track Cycling World Championships in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands.

The 20-year-old took out the title with a win in the elimination race after earlier coming second in the tempo race and placing 11th in the scratch race.
With 107 points at the end of the competition, four points behind Sajnok, Jan-Willem van Schip of the Netherlands came second, while Simone Consonni of Italy came third with 104 points.
Sajnok's victory was Poland's first medal won at the championships. (vb)
