Winter Olympics: Mateusz Luty to carry Polish flag at close of Games

Bobsleigh competitor Mateusz Luty will carry the Polish flag at the closing ceremony of the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics on Sunday, the onet.pl news website has reported.

Luty and team-mate Krzysztof Tylkowski came 24th in the two-man bobsleigh competition in South Korea.
During the opening ceremony, the Polish red and white national colours were carried by Zbigniew Bródka, Poland’s top speed skater.
Bródka failed to defend his Sochi Games Olympic gold in the men’s 1,500 metres, finishing 12th in Pyeongchang.
Poland won two medals in South Korea, placing it 20th in the medals table. Polish ski jumping star Kamil Stoch won the men's Large Hill individual event, while Poland took the bronze in the men's team competition.
Ahead of the Games, Polish officials named ski jumping as Poland’s biggest chance of an Olympic medal in South Korea.
Sports and Tourism Minister Witold Bańka said that it was realistic to expect that Polish athletes would bring home two to three medals from Pyeongchang.
Poland won six medals, four gold, one silver and one bronze, during the previous winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, in 2014, Poland's best Olympic Winter Games tally.
Four years earlier in Vancouver, Canada, Poland also scooped up six medals: one gold, three silver and two bronze.
