Track cycling World Cup in Poland’s Pruszków

Track cyclists from all over the world have flocked to Pruszków near Warsaw for a series of World Cup competitions at a local velodrome this weekend.

The three-day event, which begins on Friday and runs until Sunday, marks the first leg of the 2017 Tissot UCI Track Cycling World Cup series, which also includes dates in Britain, Canada, Chile and Belarus.
The Pruszków event will feature a number of Olympic and world champions and includes competitions such as scratch, points race, team sprint, individual sprint, team pursuit, omnium, keirin and madison, according to organisers.
Competitors include top Polish track cyclists such as Adrian Tekliński, this year’s world champion in scratch; Wojciech Pszczolarski, a bronze medal winner at this year’s world championships in Hong Kong; and Szymon Sajnok and Justyna Kaczkowska, winners of many World Cup races.
From Pruszków, the Track Cycling World Cup series will travel to Britain’s Manchester for competitions on November 10-12, followed by Milton, Canada on December 2-3, Santiago, Chile on December 9-10, and Minsk, Belarus on January 19-21.
Poland’s track cyclists claimed a total of four medals, one gold, one silver and two bronze, at this year’s European Track Championships in Berlin, Germany from October 19 to 22.
