Poland’s Justyna Kowalczyk has come eighth in a 10km cross-country skiing event at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti, Finland.

“I gave it my all, I fought for each second,” Kowalczyk said after reaching the finish line, according to the Przegląd Sportowy website.
She added: “What more can I say, I’m still smiling even though I consider this run as a failure”.
Norway’s Marit Bjoergen won her 16th World Championship gold medal for her first-place result in the event.
Sweden’s Charlotte Kalla came second and Noway’s Astrid Uhrenholdt Jacobsen came third.
The Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti run until 5 March. (vb/pk)
