World number three Radwańska lost 3:6, 2:6 to Croatia’s Mirjana Lucic-Baroni.
“It's amazing, it's been so long since I won a match or two - actually this is the first time ever in Australia,” Lucic-Baroni said after the meet.
“It's an incredible feeling. I knew until the last point that I had to fight - there is a reason why she is number three in the world,” she added.
Radwańska said she was disappointed.
"It's always disappointing when you lose in the first week of a Grand Slam," she said, adding, "I need to come back next year and do better". (vb)
