Dariusz Olszewski was the only candidate for the position. He was backed by 38 of 40 delegates at an extraordinary general meeting of the association in Warsaw on Sunday; two delegates abstained.
Olszewski, who graduated in marketing and management, was a deputy for the Law and Justice party and is now a member of the Solidarna Polska grouping.
The previous president of the Polish Association of Rugby, Frenchman Serge Bosca, was dismissed in mid-September. He came under fire from critics who claimed he did not deliver on his pre-election promises.
Olszewski says that one of his main tasks will be to rebuild a positive atmosphere in Polish rugby.
