Rio 2016: Poland's Małachowski wins discus silver

Polish discus thrower Piotr Małachowski has won a silver medal at the Rio 2016 Olympics.

Małachowski threw a distance of 67.55 metres, behind Germany's Christoph Harting (68.37m), and ahead of Germany's Daniel Jasinski (67.05m).

“I'll be around for the next four years,” Małachowski told journalists at the medal awarding ceremony.

Poland has won a total of four medals at the Olympics in Rio, with a gold and bronze in rowing and a second bronze in cycling. (rg)
