Białecka, who won the women’s event, told public broadcaster Polish Radio: “Throughout these world championships I kept in mind that the most important thing is this year’s Olympic Games.
“I approached the world championships as a training exercise and didn’t expect that I could win a medal, and certainly not the gold.”
Paweł Kowalski, the coach of the Polish team, said the secret of success “is always the same - a plan, carrying out the plan and having as few problems as possible.”
He added: “We managed to smoothly carry out everything we had planned, which resulted in us having two gold medals and most of our team in the top ten.” (pk)
