The Kraków-born racer admitted beforehand that 2015 has not been his year of glory.
The Pole started the rally in 15th place in the general classification, with Frenchman Sebastien Ogier leading the pack.
After coming in tenth in the first leg, and then seventh in the second, Kubica had a wobble in the third, with his vehicle grinding to a halt.
“I didn't bump into anything,” he revealed after the third leg.
“I was continually in the middle of the road, but after six or seven kilometres I felt I had a puncture.
“The finishing line was 20 kilometres away and I had to change the tyre,” he added, noting that he lost almost 3 minutes to the leader.
Kubica, who spent over a year and a half away from professional racing following a severe accident at the Ronde di Andora Rally in February 2011, has had ups and downs since being compelled to put his Formula One career on hold.
He said last month that he has “had enough” of trying to prove himself.
“I would just like to do a clean rally from time to time,” he added. (nh/rk)
