“Poland will not vote for Blatter, not because we believe that he is corrupt, but because three years ago he said that this will be his last mandate. We see no reason why he should extend it,” Boniek, who heads Poland’s national football association tod the TVN broadcaster.
Boniek is therefore likely to vote for the other candidate in Friday’s vote: Prince Ali of Jordan.
However, Boniek added that “any other result than a win for Blatter would be a major surprise.”
Despite a major corruption scandal which has engulfed FIFA, with at least 14 officials, including FIFA vice-president Jeffrey Webb and Jack Warner, a former head of the CONCACAF (The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football).
The FBI is investigating a wide and established corruption and money-laundering ring across several continents, confiscating hundreds of boxes of documents and computers.
