There is talk that the golden-booted Pole could miss the rest of the season, doubling Bayern's woes after losing on penalties to Lewandowski's former side, Borussia Dortmund, at home in Munich.
The Pole met mid-air with Dortmund goalie Mitchell Langerak, who has since sworn that he had meant no harm to his former teammate.
Lewandowski's doctor Jacek Jaroszewski initially claimed that the striker had “a fractured jawbone and concussion.”
However, his German agent later indicated that it is a broken cheekbone.
Lewandowski, who captains Poland's national side, had scored Bayern's only goal in the match. With the score level at 1-1 following extra time, Dortmund snatched a 2-0 victory in the penalty shoot out. (nh)
