Lićwinko jumps to bronze in Prague

Kamila Lićwinko won Poland's first medal at the European Indoor Athletics Championships in Prague on Saturday, taking bronze in the high jump.

The Pole managed 1.94m on her first attempt, which although is below her best of 2.02m this year, was enough to secure her third place.

Russian Mariya Kuchina won the gold, by managing 1.97m twice, while Italian Alessia Trost made the same height once only, thus taking silver.

Meanwhile, Lićwinko's teammate Justyna Kasprzycka took sixth place with 1.90m.

France and the United Kingdom were joint leaders in the medals table on Saturday evening, with three apiece, while Poland 11th equal. (nh)
