After going 2-0 up in the first set, it looked like the 24-year-old Pole might be destined for another victory, but it was not to be.

No. 4 seed Bacsinszky swiftly pulled herself together, fighting back to take the first set 6-4.

Radwańska barely had a look-in during the second set, taking just two games. Nevertheless, after a year plagued by injury, the Pole's second WTA quarter-final of the year marks a positive development.

The Swiss player will now place Italian Sara Errani in the semi-finals.

"It's going to be a tough match against Bacsinszky - she's playing with a lot of confidence, and playing really well," Errani commented on her rival. (nh)
