It was a case of 'so near, so far' for Polish football fans on Thursday when the cup went on display to the public for two days in Warsaw: Poland failed to qualify for Brazil 2014.
The trophy arrived in the Polish capital from Moscow on Wednesday as part of a 150,000 kilometer world tour, which began last September.
Brazilian ambassador to Poland, Jorge Geraldo Kadri referred to Poland hosting Euro 2012 when he said that "Poles know what is happening now in Brazil. They realize that the last few months of preparations for such a big event are very intense. But I am sure that we can cope with the challenge."
The World Cup will be on display in Berlin on 29 March, before leaving for China, North Korea and USA. (pg)
