According to the committee, Zalewski tested positive for phenethylamine, with the tests carried out on 23 February.
The Pole has become the seventh competitor to test positive for performance-enhancing drugs at the 2014 Winter Olympics.
The Polish four-man team, which consisted of Dawid Kupczyk, Michał Kasperowicz and Paweł Mroz as well as Zalewski, came 23rd in the overall rankings.
Zalewski is the third Pole to test positive for doping at the Winter Olympics, following skier Kornelia Marek (now Kornelia Kubinska) at Vancouver in 2010, and hockey player Jaroslaw Morawiecki at Calgary in 1988. (nh)
