Poland had its most successful day yet at the Sochi Games on Saturday, with Kamil Stoch taking gold on the very last jump on the Long Hill, ahead of Noriaki Kasai (Japan) and Peter Prevc (Slovenia).

Earlier, Zbigniew Brodka beat Netherlands' Koen Verweij into second place by just 0.003 of a second to take gold in the Men's Speed Skating 1500m.

Stoch is only the third man ever to strike gold on both the Normal Hill, which he won earlier in the week, and Large Hill at a Winter Olympic Games.

President Bronislaw Komorowski tweeted that this was "a beautiful day for Poland" and he was "bursting with pride" at the news of Stoch's second gold of the games.

Poland now has four medals, all gold, at the 2014 Games, with cross country skier Justyna Kowalczyk adding to the haul on Thursday. (pg)
