"The symbolism of Christmas Eve makes us think about what unites us," Poland's President Andrzej Duda said in a Sunday video address to the nation.

"On the occasion of Christmas, we wish all the Polish people, at home and abroad, the joy of joint celebration, we wish you a lot of cordiality while breaking the wafer and a family atmosphere at the Christmas Eve supper," said the president in the video.
Earlier on Sunday President Duda wished "all Twitter users a peaceful and joyful Christmas spent with their families. Let there be a seat for everyone at the Christmas table."
On Saturday Poland's Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki wished "a fulfilled hope of a better tomorrow," in a video posted on the PM Chancellery’s Twitter account.
Morawiecki said that Christmas is "a time of warmth, joy and hope. It is a time of building what is most important: kindness, closeness, respect."
Sunday marks Christmas Eve, the night before Christmas when many Polish families will share a traditional wafer and exchange greetings.
