Witold Waszczykowski will take part in a meeting of the so-called Community of Democracies, an intergovernmental initiative by Poland and the United States.
The meeting, organised by US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson in Washington, is expected to focus on the role of democracy in counteracting terrorism and the situation in North Korea, according to the Polish foreign ministry.
On Saturday, Waszczykowski is due to meet with Polish Americans at a Catholic shrine in Doylestown, Pennsylvania.
He will then travel to New York City to take part in a meeting of world leaders to discuss ways of reforming the United Nations. The meeting will be chaired by US President Donald Trump and attended by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.
On Tuesday, Waszczykowski will join Poland’s President Andrzej Duda, who will come to the United States to take part in the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly.
On Wednesday, Waszczykowski will return to Washington for talks at the State Department and meetings with experts from think tanks.
On Thursday, he will be a guest at an annual conference of the Center for European Policy Analysis, a public policy research institute with offices in Washington and Warsaw and focusing on the study of Central and Eastern Europe. (gs/pk)
