A replica of a 17th century synagogue ceiling has taken its place as part of an ambitious project at the Museum of the History of Polish Jews in Warsaw.

The reconstruction is of a ceiling at a no-longer existing synagogue in the small village of Gwozdziec, around 60 kilometers from Krakow, which is now known as Hvizdets in Ukraine.
Gwozdziec used to be part of Poland and the ceiling at the synagogue was a gem of Jewish art, architecture, and religious culture.
In our Day in the Life feature this week, reporter Hagay Hacohen talks to, among others, Rick Brown of the educational NGO American Handshouse Studio, which seeks to teach history by rebuilding material artifacts using similar techniques to those used by past generations.
