One miner was reported dead and five others slightly injured after tremors hit two Polish copper mines late on Friday.

A 40-year-old miner was killed after a tremor struck the Polkowice-Sieroszowice mine in the southwest of the country in the late evening, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported, citing a spokeswoman for state-run copper producer KGHM, which owns the mine.

Meanwhile, five other miners suffered minor injuries following a quake earlier in the day in the nearby Rudna copper mine operated by KGHM, the IAR news agency reported.

Earlier this week, three miners were killed and six others injured after a powerful tremor shook the Murcki-Staszic coal mine operated by the state-run Polish Mining Group in the southern city of Katowice.
