Speaking during a conference on Thursday, Jerzy Kwieciński said: “Economic growth this year should reach 4.5 percent, and it may be even higher than this.”
Kwieciński added that he expected the country’s GDP expansion to be increasingly driven by investment, which he said was booming.
“We are actually dealing with an explosion of private investment in the enterprise sector," he told the conference.
He added, however, that consumption would remain the primary driver of growth.
Poland’s Central Statistical Office (GUS) said at the beginning of last month that capital expenditure by businesses in the first quarter of 2019 came to a total of PLN 28.1 billion (EUR 6.6 billion, USD 7.4 billion) and was 21.7 percent higher than in the same quarter last year, state news agency PAP reported.
The Polish economy grew 4.7 percent in the first quarter of this year, the country’s Central Statistical Office said last Friday in a final estimate.
Polish GDP grew 4.9 percent in the final quarter of last year and expanded by 5.1 percent in 2018 as a whole, according to the statistics office.
