The figure marked the lowest monthly jobless rate in the country since September 1990, Labour and Social Policy Minister Bożena Borys-Szopa told reporters.
Poland’s unemployment rate in May was 0.7 percentage points lower than in the same month last year, Borys-Szopa said.
There were around 907,100 people without jobs at the end of last month, down by 95,000 from a year earlier, she added.
The country’s state-run Central Statistical Office (GUS) reported last month that Poland’s unemployment rate dropped to 5.6 percent in April, from 5.9 percent in March.
