Unemployment in Poland dropped to 5.6 percent in April, from 5.9 percent in March, the country’s labour minister said on Thursday.
Elżbieta Rafalska
There were around 939,700 people without jobs at the end of April, down by 45,000 from a month earlier, Labour and Social Policy Minister Elżbieta Rafalska told reporters.
In an announcement last month, Rafalska said that Poland’s jobless rate was expected to slide to 5.2 percent in September and to stand at 5.5 percent at the end of the year.
The country’s state-run Central Statistical Office (GUS) reported last month that Poland’s unemployment rate fell to 5.9 percent in March from 6.1 percent in February.
The reading was in line with an earlier estimate by the labour minister.
