The engines are used in vehicles produced by the PSA Group, a French multinational manufacturer of vehicles sold under the Peugeot, Citroën, Opel and Vauxhall brands.
Polish Enterprise and Technology Minister Jadwiga Emilewicz took part in the launch of production on Thursday.
She said that Poland was now attractive to investors not because of cheap labour but because it offered quality and productivity.
“It’s no accident that the largest global automotive corporations have chosen Poland for their state-of-the-art production lines,” Emilewicz added.
