Jerzy Kwieciński told reporters on Wednesday that such a reading would be one of the best results in the European Union.

Polish deputies earlier approved the country’s budget for 2019, which expects the economy to grow 3.8 percent, with inflation targeted at 2.3 percent.

The country’s Central Statistical Office (GUS) said in November that the Polish economy grew 5.1 percent in the third quarter of last year.

The economy also grew 5.1 percent in the second quarter of 2018.

The Central Statistical Office in mid-November revised upward its estimate of Polish GDP growth in the first quarter from 5.2 percent to 5.3 percent.
