At the height of the holiday season, the Ireland-based carrier has cancelled a number of flights from Brussels, Cologne and Stockholm to Modlin airport, north of Warsaw, according to Polish Radio's IAR news agency.

Ryanair has also called off a series of flights from Hamburg to Katowice, southern Poland, from Dusseldorf to the northern Polish city of Bydgoszcz, and from Berlin to Kraków, IAR reported.

The budget carrier has cancelled nearly 400 of more than 2,400 flights across Europe that had been scheduled for Friday amid a planned strike by pilots in Germany, Ireland, Sweden and Belgium, according to the agency.

Ryanair has announced it will cut employment in Dublin and hire new staff from Poland for its charter service, Ryanair Sun, IAR reported last month.
