In March, joblessness in Poland stood at 4.4 percent, according to the Eurostat agency.

The Czech Republic was the country with the lowest unemployment in the European Union in April, at 2.2 percent, followed by Malta with 3.0 percent, and Germany with 3.4 percent, according to Eurostat.

Meanwhile, Greece had the highest jobless rate in the EU, at 20.8 percent, followed by Spain, with 15.9 percent, the agency said on Thursday.

It reported that the EU average for April was 7.1 percent, down from 7.2 percent in March.

Poland’s Central Statistical Office (GUS), which uses a different methodology, reported last month that Polish joblessness stood at 6.3 percent in April, down from 6.6 percent in March.
