Quarter of a million foreigners with work permits in Poland

Around 250,000 foreign non-EU nationals held work permits in Poland at the end of 2017, Labour Minister Elżbieta Rafalska has said.

The number of foreigners with work permits in Poland has been growing for the last three years on the back of record-low unemployment, Rafalska told reporters on Wednesday.
She added that the proportion of foreigners in Poland’s labour force ranged from 2.5 to 5 percent and was the highest in sectors such as agriculture, construction, manufacturing, transport, retail, food services and private household services.
Ukrainian nationals account for the largest number of work permits in Poland, according to Rafalska, followed by citizens of Belarus, Moldova, India, Nepal, Turkey, Armenia, China and Vietnam.
Citizens of European Union member states do not need work permits to be legally employed in Poland.
